Galveston, oh Galveston (ala Glen Campbell)

I've been meaning to post these photos I took in Galveston on Feb. 9. We decided to drive down on David's birthday.
I was surprised at how bad the seawall area still looked and the Strand was a virtual ghost town.

I was shocked to see the number of homless men who were making these buildings their home.

And, I had to throw one in of my wonderful, creative, beautiful, and joyous daughters!

Happy Shrove Tuesday

Just wanted to share a photo I took of Maddie this morning.

For those of you who are readers, my neighbor turned me on to a great site called Paperback Book Swap. I've already got a book coming in the mail and have sent out 3 of my books I wanted to get rid of. I also finished another book, Such A Pretty Fat, by Jen Lancaster. It is so funny! If you are looking for a quick, humorous read, pick it up.

With the end of February looming, I revisited my "unresolutions." I've been doing pretty good on some but need to work on others. I've been finishing a scrapbook page a week thanks to 52 Sketches. I've been reading quite a bit and keeping up with my household chores. I've also embarked on a mission to organize my pantry. I went to a Tupperware party not to long ago and started buying the Modular Mates to help with my organizing. Some of the things I need to work on are 1:1 time with David, and money matters. I think I'm going to start a money journal this week to see where I can budget. (Can you believe I actually LOVE doing this type of thing! It's like a game for me)

Anyway, give a hug to those you love and let them know EVERYDAY how much you love and appreciate them.

We surround them

Is anyone else besides me fed up with the way our government is acting? I am scared about what is happening to our country. We are not coming together, the government is dividing this country more than ever. It is pitting hard-working, responsible people who pay their bills and save against those who are looking for free rides. I have a problem with my tax dollars going to pay off someone's mortgage when they got themselves in over their head. When did our country start rewarding BAD BEHAVIOR and punishing those of us who try to do the right things in our life? How many of these people are driving new cars? Buying designer clothes? Have they sold off their "things" to help pay some of their debt? I'm driving an 8 year old car, my husbands truck is 15 years old. I shop at Walmart, no designer clothes for us. I cut coupons and buy sales to save money.

My family lives within our means. We save, we have a realistic view of money. If we don't have the cash, we don't buy it. It's that simple. When we bought our home, we were approved for 3 times the amount of our house, but we weren't blinded by status symbols like most people. We knew how much we wanted our payments to be and we stuck to that. COME ON PEOPLE, WAKE UP!

If you are frustrated like me, please go take a look at Glenn Beck's movement, We Surround Them.

I Hope You Dance

I entered another scrapbook page to 52 Sketches.

Wednesday Wonderings

This week we are going to look at some ridiculous state laws.

*When two trains meet each other at a railroad crossing, each shall come to a full stop, and neither shall proceed until the other has gone.
*It is illegal to take more than three sips of beer at a time while standing.
*It is illegal to shoot a buffalo from the 2nd story of a hotel.
*It is illegal to milk another person’s cow.
*A recently passed anticrime law requires criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice, either orally or in writing, and to explain the nature of the crime to be committed.
*The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a formula for making beer at home.
*You are not allowed to eat your nebighors garbage without their permission. Doing so will result in Jail time!

Ahhh...it's nice to know our government is looking our for us!

I'm the LUCKIEST woman in the world!!!!!

Look what my wonderful hubby left me on the computer today...

My Junebug …. My Wife
Babe we’re getting’ older,
Feeling the aches and pains of life.
And I’m such a lucky man,
To have such a wonderful wife.

You take me as I am,
With my faults and moods and such.
I can never tell you enough,
How I love you oh so much.

Don’t ask me why I wrote this,
Nothing happened, nothing’s wrong.
Sometimes I just need to say it,
So you know my love is strong.

Now stop you’re cryin’ and tearin’,
I’d rather make you laugh.
By telling you strange jokes,
About a three legged calf!

But back to the point I’m making,
About how good you are for me.
A wonderful mother to my girls,
And even more you need to see.

I’m far from perfect as a man,
I’ll be the very first to admit.
But without you my dear,
I’d be worth not one bit.

You complete me as a person.
You reinforce me as a man.
If I ever lost your love,
I’d have no strength to stand.

I need you always my love,
You are my partner at my side.
Should times be good or bad,
I’m so lucky you’re my bride.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
I Love Ya To The Purple And Back!!!

Can I just say how much I LOVE that man!!!!!!!

Another book finished!

I can't believe it, but I've finished reading another novel. This time it was Little Giant of Aberdeen County, by Tiffany Baker. It was a very moving book. The main character, Truly, suffers from a growth disorder that causes her to grow at an alarming rate and when most people stop growing, she continues. The book is about the trials of her life and the torment and ridicule she suffers from not only the townspeople, but those she loves. It is a wonderful tale of survival and grace.

Next on the book shelf is How to Talk to a Liberal, if you must by Ann Coulter.

Bubbles, Bubbles everywhere!

Tuesday night, like most nights, I ran a bath for the girls. I usually put the 2 of them in my big garden tub and let them play. I lay on my bed and read and still see and hear them. This gives ALL of us a little "me" time. After about 20 minutes, I noticed that it was pretty quiet in there. No laughter, no giggles, no splashing, nothing. I jumped up to see what was going on and found this...

They had gotten a bottle of shampoo and made their own bubble bath. There were bubbles EVERYWHERE! On the floor, the wall, the shelf by the window....

A first for me...

I've been lurking on a scrapbook blog called 52 sketches for a while. Julie, the creator, posts a layout sketch every Sunday. You can post your version of her sketch to the gallery and on Saturday, she chooses one layout to win a prize. I decided this week to finally participate. I uploaded my photo and have received wonderful feedback. I wanted to share it here. Let me know what you think.

Wednesday Wonderings

Did you know:

* Babies are born without kneecaps. They don't appear until the child reaches 2 to 6 years of age.

* Butterflies taste with their feet.

* Cats have over one hundred vocal sounds. Dogs only have about 10.

* "Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt".

* In the last 4,000 years, no new animals have been domesticated.

* If the population of China walked past you, in single file, the line would
never end because of the rate of reproduction.

* If you are an average American, in your whole life, you will spend an average of 6 months waiting at red lights.

* It's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open.

* Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissors.

Have fun!

Valentine's Decorations

I've finally made something other than a scrapbook title with my big Cricut I got for Christmas! Yay! I was so multitasking yesterday. While embroidering treat bags for a friend, I decided to make a valentine "love" banner to hang on the wall. I've still got to add some embellishments, but I'm so proud of myself! I think today I'm doing to cut out a bunch of hearts of different sizes and attach them to skewers and put them in a vase like little heart flowers.
